Performance Improvements
• The game loads roughly 30% faster. • Playing a word should be about 65% snappier.
Levels and XP
Everything you do now earns XP: playing words, claiming and using powerups, and keeping your daily streak. Your level shows beside your name on the leaderboard, your profile, and your friends list. Your past games already count, so check your profile to see where you start!
Streaks Follow Your Clock
Your daily streak now runs from midnight to midnight on your own clock, wherever you are. Your first word each day also earns 10 XP for every day of your streak, up to 70.
Welcome to the Zoo
Every pet you own now roams free together in the Zoo. Tap one to make it celebrate, or pick it up and move it somewhere new. Find the Zoo in My Pets.
Drag Tiles to Move Them
Put a tile in the wrong square? Drag it somewhere else before you submit. A tap still sends it back to your rack. On a touch screen, a drag that starts on a tile you just placed now moves the tile, not the board.
Block and Report
If another player is bothering you, open their profile to block or report them. A blocked player can't send you friend requests or game invites, and you can unblock them any time in Preferences.
Made for Tablets
The Word Frontier app now plays great on tablets and foldables, in portrait and landscape. All that extra screen space is now used for the best player experience possible!
Royal Tax Territories Pay Everyone
Players have been avoiding Royal Tax territories, but that changes today! Royal Tax territories now provide a +1 bonus for each letter tile you play! Right-click or long-press a region to see more details.
Three More Pets Come to Life
The Hedgehog, Red Fox, and Peacock are now fully animated and ready to adopt!
Friends, Rebuilt
Find any player by name and send them a friend request. Friends now work the same in the app as on the web.
Summon Your Pet
Wandered off while you were busy spelling? Open the board menu anywhere on the frontier and pick Summon to call your pet back to you.
Pets Come to Life
Your pet now walks around the board, perks up when you score, and naps when you take a break. The Tabby Cat, Golden Retriever, Parakeet, and Penguin are all fully animated!
Mobile App Beta Is Live!
The Word Frontier beta is live on iOS and Android! The official App Store and Play Store release is coming soon.
Sign in with Apple
You can now sign in with your Apple ID, on the web and in the app. No new password to remember.
A New Look for Navigation & Your Profile
Navigation has a fresh new look, and your Profile has been rebuilt with your stats, streak, trophies, pets, and friends all in one place.
Word-Unlock Pets
Some pets can't be bought. Play their secret word on the board to unlock them! Two are hiding out there right now.
Pets Arrive on the Frontier
Adopt a pet to keep you company on the board while you play! Drag it around, or tap it to say hi.
Trophies Pay Tickets
Every trophy you earn now pays out Tickets. The rarer the trophy, the bigger the payout!
The General Store
Tickets are the frontier's new currency, and the General Store is where you spend them. Come browse the pets and themes!
Keep the Leaderboard Open
On desktop the leaderboard can now stay pinned open while you play, instead of closing every time you look away from it.
A Much Faster Load
Word Frontier now loads much faster, especially on mobile data.
More Words in the Dictionary
Queso, bitcoin, jedi, pesto, vape and more are now playable. Almost every word we add comes from a player report, so if one is missing, tell us.
Clearer Stolen Tiles
If another player takes a spot you were about to play on, the game now tells you what happened and puts your tiles back on your rack.
Out of Letters?
Running dry used to be confusing for new players. Now you get a hint explaining how tile grants work and when your next batch arrives.
Smoother Board & Fewer Crashes
The board is now smoother when you pan, zoom, and place tiles, and we fixed several crashes on iPhone.

Account & Sign-In Improvements
Sessions now stay signed in much longer, and Log Out has moved to Preferences as its own dedicated action.
Saharan Safari Theme

Private Games
Invite friends directly to a private game and choose the win condition: first to a target score, or highest score when time runs out.
New Visual Themes & High Contrast Mode
Three new looks for the frontier (Wild West, Volcanic, and Sunken Sea) plus a High Contrast Mode that maximizes tile and text readability on any theme.
Sound Effects Added!
Placing tiles, submitting words, and activating powerups now have their own sound effects. Adjust or mute them anytime in Preferences.
Keyboard Mode
Word Frontier now supports fast keyboard-only play. Press R to jump to your Rack, G to jump to the board, and more.
Super Word
Every game now has a secret Super Word worth a 10× score multiplier. Find hints on green tiles, or use a Mystery Scroll powerup to reveal a letter.
Friend System
You can now add friends, see when they're online, and track how your scores compare on the frontier.
New Leapfrog Powerup
The Leapfrog powerup lets you jump ahead in tile priority, pulling from your stash first. Check the Powerup Guide to learn more.
New Pickpocket Powerup
The Pickpocket powerup has arrived on the frontier. Find out what it does in the Powerup Guide.
Facebook Login Support
You can now sign in with your Facebook account. Head to the login screen to connect your account.
